Church Mission is here to provide pastoral support to parishes and pastoral teams. We facilitate the focused delivery of formation and resources to meet the changing needs of parish life. Click on the links below for further information.
Parish Pastoral Councils (PPCs) – Assisting parishes in their understanding and application of Archdiocesan Norms & Policies and Guidelines. PPCs are mandatory in Archdiocesan parishes and we are here to assist your PPC to be an effective and positive leadership group for all involved.
Clergy and parish leadership team support – Leading the day-to-day life of the community can be challenging and we are here to help you in growing enthusiastic and positive teams of volunteers at the local parish level. Recognising that many of our clergy are relatively to our country, Church Mission takes the lead in the provision of the Archdiocesan Landing the Waka programme to support the cultural integration of missionary clergy.
Parish renewal – Revitalising our local communities is a key priority in our Church today. Based on personal encounter with the Lord celebrated in community life, renewal is about rediscovering our reason for existence. We are here to assist you in exploring the tools available for your parish.
Lay faith formation – Both local and universal synods have called for more lay faith formation. Church Mission has developed inhouse opportunities in the Archdiocese in the shape of the annual Called & Equipped and Mission Leaders programmes. The more comprehensive Launch Out programme, pioneered in the Archdiocese over more than two decades, is currently on hold awaiting expressions of interest.
Parish support staff – At Church Mission we recognise the important role played by local parish support staff, key among them being our parish secretaries and administrators. An annual formation and training day is held in May and parishes are encouraged to send their support staff to join their colleagues for professional development and networking.

A commitment to collaborative ministry
At the heart of the leadership formation on offer with Church Mission, is the commitment collaborative ministry between all parish leaders. Our three most recent Archbishops have all urged the people of the Archdiocese to heed the Second Vatican Council call to engagement with the Christian community. Integral to this are leaders and leadership teams, lay and ordained, who work well together collaborating in enabling volunteer leaders to emerge and grow. People sharing their wisdom and their talents forms the essence of collaborative ministry something that the Archdiocese has explored over many years under the banner of stewardship of God’s gifts to us.
