A Taizé Prayer Evening was held at the Parish of St Francis of Assisi Ohariu on 20 June as part of its celebration of the Jubilee of St Francis of Assisi this year. It was a wonderful evening of meditative prayer and singing to the chants of Taizé, complemented by fellowship over warm mulled wine and variety of canapés and nibbles. Assistant Parish priest Fr Alfred Tong led the congregation in the singing with his beautiful resonant voice and piano virtuoso, while Mons Gerry Burns brought a deeper meaning to the event with his sharing of the history of Taizé and the Jubilee celebration.
The event is one of many being celebrated by the Parish for the Jubilee year. The most recent was the 7-day “Retreat in Daily Life” held in May graced by Sr Judith Moroney RSM and Fr Chris Skinner SM.
