A special fundraising music recital is planned for Saturday, 24 October at 2pm, featuring Nelson’s Rōnaki Quartet.

The restoration work at Sacred Heart Marble Church is progressing well. The steel strengthening work is now complete, and most of the interior scaffolding has been removed, giving a much clearer view of the church interior. The block sacristy addition has been demolished, revealing the original exterior church stone that had been hidden for many years.

The next stages of the restoration include:

  • Electrical rewiring
  • New lighting and heating
  • Interior painting
  • New carpets
  • Restoration of the altar area and statues

As soon as engineers give the sign-off, an Open Day will be held, giving supporters and members of the community an opportunity to come inside and see the restoration work for themselves.

Fundraising has also reached the $50,000 mark – getting closer to the $200,000 fundraising goal.

Donations can be sent to the Sacred Heart Takaka Trust, bank account number: 03 1354 0630610 00.

Keep watching this space. What a blessing to see our sacred spaces restored.
