The relic of St Carlo Acutis was welcomed to Sacred Heart Cathedral this past Sunday with a mihi whakatau and kawe mate. It began about 8am. The relic was processed across the piazza and through the main doors of the cathedral, accompanied by pūtatara and karanga waiata.

After being placed in situ there was an exchange of greetings via hongi, mihi to the presence of St Carlo, to the manuhiri bringing the relic, and to the cathedral itself.

Links were made to the presence of part of St Carlo’s heart, the cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the community of Te Ngākau Tapu (Sacred Heart) from Porirua, who assisted with this welcome.
