Every election matters, but this year, changes to electoral laws mean that there is less time to enrol to vote. We can no longer enrol on Election Day or in the two weeks prior. These changes impact over 450,000 people and particularly those already marginalised, such as renters, young people or those on the fringes of society – will be less able to participate in the election and help choose decision-makers who take their needs into account.

As Christians we believe that everyone’s voice matters, and that particularly people who are most marginalised should be brought in and included.

Common Grace is inviting churches to hold an “Enrolment Sunday” to inform their church members of the enrolment deadline. We recommend 20 or 27 September, though early October can work too.

· Play a 3-minute video about why and how to enrol, featuring Archbishop Paul, Anglican Archbishop Justin Duckworth and others.

· Provide enrolment forms and laptops so people can update their details after the service.

We won’t be telling you or your community which party or candidate to vote for. Rather, together, we can help ensure that thousands of voices that might otherwise get shut out of our democracy, get heard this election.
