Wellington seminarian Gerson Badayos was ordained to the Transitional Diaconate by Archbishop Paul on Friday, 2 October. The ordination took place at Sacred Heart Church, in Auckland’s Ponsonby, and was followed by a reception at Holy Cross Seminary.
Gerson is originally from the Philippines. He started his Seminary formation in 2021, and has served in several parishes while on pastoral placement.
In his homily, Archbishop Paul encouraged Gerson to embrace the diaconate as a “school of service,” and to trust in the grace of God who has called him to this ministry.
