On Wednesday, 7 October 2026, the Young Church team held a Mass to launch preparations for World Youth Day (WYD) 2027. Archbishop Paul Martin celebrated the Mass for about 42 attendees, encouraging them to trust God like Mary did when she said YES to bear Jesus. He then encouraged young people to consider participating in WYD 2027 in Seoul and to trust God if He calls them to go, as WYD will be an experience of knowing they are part of something bigger than their own parish community. They are part of the global and universal Catholic Church.
After the Mass, attendees gathered at Connolly Hall for details on the Wellington pilgrimage, including itinerary and costs.
Applications for WYD 2027 are open until 31 October 2026, at 11:59pm.
