Joy, gratitude, and community filled St Michael’s Taita (Te Awakairangi Parish) to honour Srs Ruth Coleman and Fran Nicolle on their 50th anniversary as Presentation Sisters.

The occasion was twice as special as it also marked the 250th anniversary of the Congregation of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Ruth and Fran were joined by their congregation sisters — Noreen McGrath, and Veronica Casey, who flew in from Dunedin, and Regina Daly — as well as their families, friends and parishioners.

The Mass was followed by celebration, featuring plenty of singing, and catching up with old friends while welcoming new ones.

Nano Nagle is fondly remembered as the “Lady of the Lantern.” Centuries later, through the dedicated lives of Presentation Sisters and all who share in her Charism, that very same lantern of hope continues to shine brightly across our world today.
