“Each one must do as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

  • – 2 Corinthians 9:7 (RSV)

The giving of our financial resources is one of the ways we can express our faith and support God’s church.

The Archdiocese does not receive any funding from the Holy See (the Vatican). This is why gifts are so important.

Personal Gift

Stewardship is an expression of God’s grace manifested through your charitable giving and the positive impact on people’s lives, one life at a time.

If you would like to discuss other specific giving opportunities or talk about creating a named fund for a designated purpose, please email us at giving@cadw.nz or phone us at 04 496 5187.

We would like to help you use your charitable support to make an impact in the lives of many.

What Your Gift Supports

By donating or leaving a gift, you are supporting our work as an Archdiocese.

The Catholic Special character donation ensures our Catholic schools and colleges keep their unique Catholic Special Character and identity strong.

A donation to the Archdiocese of Wellington donation will assist the Archbishop in his pastoral work, and is facilitated through a Unified Charitable Trust.

The Unified Charitable Trust supports several initiatives, including:

  • General education or Catholic schools
  • Seminarian & clergy education (including Vocations)
  • Church mission (parishes, marriage, youth ministries, etc. )
  • Catholic Social Services
  • Cathedral liturgy, maintenance, and restoration

Even a small donation or gift allows us to provide vital services to look after our Catholic community, and to work to grow God’s kingdom here in our part of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Catholic Social Services – Hope Appeal

Unity / togetherness / collective action.

As the social outreach agency of the Catholic Archdiocese of Wellington, Catholic Social Services works on behalf of all in response to Christ’s call to serve the poor and marginalised in our society. Together, with your support, we can make a difference in the lives of children and families struggling to survive, endeavouring to thrive on the peripheries of our society.

Visit the Catholic Social Services page.

Leaving a Legacy

Leaving a gift to the Archdiocese of Wellington in your will is a prayerful act which is generous and simple to do. As a final gift, it is a reflection and expression on your personal values and a reflection on what you have held dear. A Gift in Will is your legacy to the world.

Talk it over with your family and if you would like to add a bequest to the Archdiocese of Wellington it to your will, the Archdiocese can arrange a complimentary solicitor’s appointment if you wish.

Call 04 496 5187.

Support Your Catholic Foundation

The Catholic Foundation, established by Cardinal Tom Williams, has for 45 years been a pillar of support for the Archbishop and the Archdiocese of Wellington. With $11 million distributed and a $14 million fund, the Foundation has truly made a difference. But the work isn’t finished. Your bequest or membership isn’t just a donation; it’s an opportunity to join a lasting family, as the principal remains invested while the income generated funds good works. This ensures your generosity endures in perpetuity, helping to secure the future of our faith.
